Query Text: |
I'm searching for information on a branch of my family tree. Elmer Louis Stammer was born on 11 May 1924 in Iowa, I believe in Belle Plaine, Benton County. His mother was Minnie Gladys Olson, and his father was her second husband John Stammer. At some point in time, Elmer moved to Clermont County, Ohio. He was married, but the name of the bride is unknown, as is the location of the wedding. (Iowa, Ohio, or somewhere else) Elmer and his wife had four children, dates of birth and gender unknown. Elmer died on 13 Sep 1960. He was 36 years old. At this point, the family as he knew it fell apart, and we lost contact with his wife and children. I believe this is because Elmer is supposed to have committed suicide. Back then, it would have been a deadly sin, and families were ashamed of such a thing. Today, we feel differently. It's horrible and sad, but suicide is a sign of mental illness, and no one is condemned to Hell for being sick. I would like to get an obituary for Elmer, it should give a name for the widow and children. At that point, it would be wonderful to get back in contact with them. I am currently doing an extensive family tree, and Elmer's branch belongs here with the rest of the tree, not cruelly pruned out. Any help you can give would be much appreciated! Sincerely, Lisa Casserly | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
