I'm looking for the mother and father of Joseph and James C. Alverson. Joe and James were born in Columbia, Ala. in 1880 and 1873 respectively. I think that Columbia was in Henry Co Ala. because Houston Co had not yet been carved out of other counties. Columbia is in present day Houston Co. whose county seat is Dothan. Joe's death certificate list his father as Rube Alverson and mother as Mary Jones. I think that Mary was born in nearby Barbour Co. specifically the Eufaula area abound 1844-1848. Joe and James moved to Atlanta around the 1890s. They both married women from Atlanta. Joe married a Mary Garrett and James, a Minnie Flemming. The mother, Mary Jones Alverson lived with James in the 1900 census and that is the last I heard of her. Minnie died before 1910 and Joe moved to Columbus around 1925 or so. James stayed in Atlanta and remarried an Ila Simmons. I just need verification that Mary is a Jones and where she is from. I can't find any Rube Alverson in the Columbia area around the early 1870s. There are a lot of Alversons in Alabama at that time but they are all congregated in the St. Claire Co. Pell City area. Any information about any of these people will be appreciated. Thanks
