U am seeking any information about the ancestors and/or descendants of Sir Edmund Bowyer who came to Jamestown Settlement in America with Captain John Smith in 1607. He might have had a daughter Catharine who had daughter Mary who married Sir William Smyth, but I have not confirmed this. I need to take Michael Bowyer, Sr. born in Maryland, or Virginia, USA in the late 1600's/early 1700's back to other ancestors, and Sir Edmund Bowyer is reported to an ancestor of his. I have seen mention of sons named Daniel and Henry as children of Sir Edmund Bowyer, but again have to proof of this claim. It is not clear if Sir Edmund remained in America or returned to England after his voyage with Capt. John Smith of Jamestown. He signed one of the charters for Jamestown, and was a part of The London Discovery Company. The names Ashe and Windham might be associated with this family. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
