My great grandfather, John Doherty, was born in Cork in 1846 and moved to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in 1878. He married in Saint John and after his wife died in 1886 moved to Fredericton, NB. Nothing is known about his life in Ireland except that he had a sister, a Mrs. Armstrong, who died in Shelton, Ireland, in 1917.
