 Looking for Benton Martin family. Benton born 1840 in Christian, Missouri. Married Laura Bean in 1861. Served Gen Fremont 1861-62, Co.K.6 Mo until end of Civil War. Then moved to Scott County, Arkansas. Has three children in MO - one may be my G-Great grandfather John B. Martin. Had one daughter by Laura in Arkansas. Laura died in 1878 in AR. Benton remarried to Sarah Lucinda Blythe in 1881 and had two boys and one girl and moved to OK where he died and is buried. We were told the Martin family is our Indian heritage. Is Bean or Martin an Indian name from MO?
