I am looking for any information on any Godfrey family members...(Margaret Mary, Julia, Nora, Anna, Bridget, Mary Ellen, John, Patrick, Cornelius) It appears as though Margaret Mary worked as a domestic in New York after immigrating to US from Ireland in August of 1907, along with her sister, Julia. She would have been born about 1890-1892, Ellis Island records show that her last residence was Kilgawan (not sure of spelling, as Ellis Island records are sometimes difficult to read.) Either Julia or Nora married a speak easy owner. Margaret Mary married Issac F. Osborn and lived in New Jersey for many years. The parents of this Godfrey family are a John Godfrey and a Julia Sullivan Godfrey, who was adopted, according to the only relative alive that knows anything about it. Unfortunately, I had followed a trail on ancestry.com that led me to Georgia, however, that isn't correct because we know that at least part of the family immigrated from Ireland. (And that has been confirmed by Ellis Island records.) I am also looking for any information on this area in Ireland, apparantly some of the family is still there. My mom had heard County Cork and County Kerry mentioned in reference to the family still there. I would GREATLY appreciate any information anyone would have. Thank you! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
