Query Text:

I am searching for my grandfathers relatives. My branch of the family tree moved from Inverness, Scotland to Nova Scotia on the good ship Hector in the 1770's. They landed in and lived in Pictou, Nova Scotia until my Grandfather and his siblings moved across Canada and the United States in the early 1900's. His parents were Daniel and Elenor Grant both born and died in Pictou, Nova Scotia. They ran a dairy farm and a butcher shop. Some of Daniel's relatives ( one named Eugene Grant) also moved to Australia and the United States. One of Daniel's relatives was also known as Countess/Lady Murray of Australia and was linked to Queen Alexandra's court. His father was named James Grant. Elenors maiden name was also Grant, although her and Daniel were not apparently related. Her father was William Grant. Elenor and Daniel (aka Donald) had the following children ... William Grant (He moved with his wife May and some of their sons, including Frederick or freddy Grant to Saskatchewan and Calgary where the family then lost track of them. One of thier sons stayed in Nova Scotia and was adopted by some relatives of the mother's with the last name of Harris. It is known that William joined the 50th battalion in world war one) Dolena Grant (spelling might be Dolina, aka Dolly) I am unsure if she married or not. Lillis Grant (aka Lilly) I am unsure if she married or not, but she was a school teacher at one time, and followed her sister Annie to the States. Anna Grant (aka Annie MacDonald, her last known residence was in Kentucky or Tennesse in the States and she had a son named Charles, possibly more children. Charles passed away in the 1990's.) Louisa Grant (aka Louie ... unsure if she married or not, but she did work for the Pictou newspaper for sometime) Elenor Grant (aka Ella Joudry, married Warren Joudry in Pictou, Nova Scotia no known children) James Arthur Grant (my grandfather ... born October 15, 1891 ... ran family dairy farm in Pictou County ... served in WW2 in England and Scotland from 1940 to 1944 He was engaged twice when there. Once to a nurse in London named Dorothy, and then to a young girl named Ruth Rowntree when stationed in Edinburgh. He died April 9, 2000. He was previously a widower, married to Kathleen Maclean ... and then after WW2 married Edith Mae Weston ... my father's mother. Any information on any of his siblings or cousins would be greatly appreciated. thank-you
