My mother was given up for adoption when she was 5 years old. Her mother had severe rheumetoid arthritis and was wheel chair bound. Her father, to her knowledge, did not approve or was not aware of this happening. Their last name was ANNIS and they lived in BOSTON, MA. Her mother felt she was not capable of taking care of my mother or her brother (age 3 at the time). She was given to Jessie and Edward Fish of Bridgeport, CT. and her brother was given to another family also believed to be in the Bridgeport area. There was an aunt who lived in that area and I think she may have set up the "adoption". This occurred in the early 1900's. I think my mom was born around 1910. Her real birth date was unknown when the FISH family took her and was given the same birthday as Jessie Fish, July 31. If anyone has any knowledge of this occurance I would love to hear from you. I would like to know know more about my roots. My mom was notified sometime in the late 1950's that her birthmother died. Her birthdad found my mom and died of a heart attack shortly afterwards.
