Update on the Veteran, Mr. Willie Dillard... Monday, September 16, 2007, there was a very fine ceremony for the Honorable Veteran, Mr. Willie Dillard and his American Burial Flag... The American Legion and Ft. Gordon, GA got involved and this mans ashes and flag were presented to Chaplin, then to Marines in front of the very building where he was nearly lost to us. A motorcade of Bikers from the American Legion and Sheriffs Department along with vehicles from Elliott Funeral Home took him to his temporary place at the funeral home until his family could be notified... It took many American Legionairres emailling and calling eveyone to help and finally, the family was identified as being from Miami Florida...Many people covered all those calls until one got lucky and found his mother... Ms. Adel Dillard was located- age 87- and was pulling down her suitcases to come to Augusta, GA and fell and broke her knee... The newpaper man who was writing the story for the Augusta Chronicle seems more interested in the felon who possessed the cremains than in printing any photos from the ceremony... The felon is at large and has warrants out for her for identity theft (one for using the credit card of a disabled veteran here in Augusta)... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
