My Great-Great-Grandmother, Martha, was born on May 13, 1880 in Berlin, Germany. She was a twin, the other being Matilda. Her birth name is not known, as her father went missing (the story varies as to how, but some have speculated military desertion), and she and Matilda were adopted by thier step-father and assumed his name, Benzein (or Benzene). At age 14, they came to the US and settled north of Buffalo, in the town of Newfane, NY. Martha married Alexander Gillis of Newfane and continued the bloodline. But No one can find either hers or her mothers birth name. Can anyone reccumend a way I can help do this?
