I am searching for an adoption record for my grandmother who was possibly born in 1898 in Mount Desert, Hancock, Maine. Story has it that her mother died when she was young and she was adopted by a couple named "King" from Canada, Montreal. The rest of her sisters were adopted but the boys remained on the farm with the father. However, in 1954 my grandmother was visiting Portland on holiday and noticed an notice in the paper about a wedding that was taking place of Manchester, she called and it was a niece. She was reunited with her family in Portland. The is all I know. It would be nice to see where this went, and who her biological parents were. Thanks. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
