I am researching the Gocha line in the Great Lakes area. There are two groups there. My line was primarily in Minnesota and Wisconsin (a few in Iowa) through the last 150 years migrating from Belgium through New York. The second line is more concentrated in the Michigan area, migrating from Canada. I am trying to find the link between these two families if there is one. My eldest Gocha ancestor is John Gocha, who is believed to have been born in Belgium and migrated through NY at a young age, but it is possible he was born in NY around the early 1850s. He married Katherine E Thomas before they moved to Iowa, had children, and moved the family to Wisconsin. Their children were James Albert Gocha and George David Gocha. George David Gocha later became George David Sumner, when Katherine remarried. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. I'll be posting more information to http://gocha.us | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
