According to my great-grandmother, my grandmother who was born about 1906 had siblings. I do not know if this is truth or not. I'm not certain of where this may have even happened, but I highly suspect in the Peoria Co., IL area or possibly St. Louis, MO area. My grandmothers name was Elveta and her mothers name was Marie Lowers, born in IL. According to the family, Marie was very young when she had my grandmother, who would have been the oldest child. She was married to an abusive alcholic native American. She left him with the younger children with intentions to return for them later, which never happened. Also, according to the story, Marie left a small box for my grandmother to receive after she passed away that was to explain everything. My great-grandmother married a man and they had a son together. He and my grandmother were raised apart and he was told they were cousins. They were in the process of moving to AZ from IL and were staying in the Nashua House in Lee Co., IL when Marie suddenly died in 1947. If there were a box, my grandmother never received it. Were these all stories to appease a young girl? Possibly so. I just wanted to see if there was anyone who may have a similar situation in their family. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
