I am an adoptee searching for my birth parents. Below is the info: “At the time of your birth, your birthmother was twenty three years of age and single. She was born in Westmoreland Country and of Croatian descent and the Roman Catholic faith. Your birthmother was described as being 5’ tall with brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. She reported her regular weight to be approximately 105 pounds. She wore eye glasses. Her interests include sewing, drama and English Literature. Your birthmother graduated from high school as an above average student. She attended two years of business school in a nearby city and since high school worked in positions as a bookkeeper. At the time of your birth, your maternal grandfather was fifty six years of age. He was of the Croatian descent and the Roman Catholic faith. Your maternal grandfather was retired from the United States Army. Your maternal grandmother was deceased at the time of your birth. She had died of cancer in 1960. Your birthmother had two siblings: a sister who was eighteen, living at home and a brother, age ten, living at home. The record indicated that your birthmother did not get along well with her father. Apparently, your maternal grandfather had been away most of your birthmother’s life traveling in the Army. When your maternal grandmother died, your maternal grandfather came back to the United States to live and care for the children. The record indicated that your maternal grandfather appeared to be an alcoholic and left your birthmother to care for her siblings. Family members were unaware of the pregnancy. At the time of your birth, your birthfather was nineteen years of age. He was born in Blair County. He was single and of the Italian descent. Your birthfather was described as being 6 feet tall, having brown hair and brown eyes. Your birthfather weighed 190 pounds and had a medium complexion. According to the record, your birthfather was a student at a University majoring in English. The record did not give ages of your paternal grandparents, but indicated that your paternal grandfather was an electrician and your paternal grandmother was a schoolteacher. Your birthfather had five siblings, all younger than him. Your birthparents dated one year prior to the knowledge of the pregnancy. According to the record, your birthfather was extremely supportive of your birthmother and had offered marriage. Your birthmother’s reaction to the offer of marriage was a refusal due to the fact that she did not feel that marriage based on pregnancy was the solution. Your birthmother continued to work into her pregnancy as long as possible and then requested that the agency find her a foster home to stay until the delivery. On November 30, 1970, your birthmother went to live in a foster home at her request. She was at this foster home until she gave birth. You were born on December 29, 1970 in Connellsville, PA. At birth, you weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and you were 21” in length. Records indicated that you had brown hair and bluish eyes. Your head circumference was 13 ˝”. You were born full term and your delivery was vaginal with small forceps being used. This caused a laceration to your nasal septum which did heal. The length of labor was nineteen hours and five minutes. The pregnancy history was normal and your Apgar scores were 10. While in the hospital, your birthmother did not see you, but she did name you Anthony prior to the decision of adoption. Your birthmother’s adoption decision was base don her impossible home situation and the feeling that she could not financially support you as a single parent. Your birthmother would have to continue to work full time and felt that it would not be fair to you to be raised with a babysitter or in a day care center. You were discharged from the hospital on January 4, 1971 and placed into a foster home. Parental rights were terminated on January 29, 1971. You were then placed with your adoptive parents on February 11, 1971. The adoption was legal on October 1, 1971. Medical information included in the record stated your maternal grandmother died of cancer. The record foes not indicate what type of cancer. Medical information pertaining to your birthmother is that she had a tonsillectomy in 1951.
