The father of James L. Phillips has eluded me for years. James was born 10 Mar 1820 in NY. James married Maranda P. Eaton b. 1824 in NY. They were wed in Cuyahoga Co. Ohio 16 May 1842. Maranda's folks, Willard F. Eaton Jr. and wife Polly are shown in Barre, Orleans Co., NY. A John W. Phillips is also shown in Barre, Orleans Co., NY with children which could match James L. Phillips and his sister Lany who married Orris Eaton who from 1830 on was close with James L. Phillips. This has been a roadblock.
