I am searching for information about Samuel Preston, or his family. He was born in Italy in 1883. He died in California in 1955. He was a widower with five daughters on the 1930 census, living in San Jose with five daughters: Mary J. (1914), Rose (1915), Lena (1917), Dorothy (1919) & Theresa (1920) -- the birthdates are approximate. Theresa married a man with the last name Womack. She died in 1988 in Sacramento, California, and her death certificate lists her birthplace as Washington. However, the 1930 census lists them as all being born in Italy. I am researching the lives of two writers/translators, Harriet Waters Preston and her neice, Louise Preston Dodge. They lived in Rome in 1883, and I am trying to discover if Samuel was the son of one of them, possibly Louise. Harriet's father (Louise's grandfather) was named Samuel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
