We descend from the Flemings of Virginia: Col. Charles Fleming (son of Sir Thomas Fleming from Scotland?-who marr Judith Tarlton) Sir Charles marr Susannah Tarlton. They lived in New Kent Co. Va. There has long been a tradition that the Flemings descended from the Fleming-Earls of Wigton of Lanarkshire, Scotland. At this time there is no proof of this however, the connection is probable. Does anyone have any info on this? Charles & Susannah had Tarlton Fleming who marr. Hannah Bates. Their son-also Tarlton marr. Mary Randolph-a descendant of Col. William & Mary Isham Randolph of Turkey Island, Henrico Co., Va. -both of royal descent. I have these lines back to Charlemagne. Mary Randolph was the 2nd cousin of Thomas Jefferson. Mary & Tarlton's son William Randolph Fleming marr. Anna Webb. I have been a genealogist for 49 years & will be glad to share info on these lines with other 'cousins'.
