Query Text: |
My grandmother was born: Mary Mae Del(l)now at Ft. Elliott, Mobeetie, Tx. where her father Charles Edward Delnow was stationed with the army. However, about 1900 or so, the family name was CHANGED to 'Brown'. He was known thereafter as: John H. Brown. Does anyone know WHY was the family name changed? My father only knew his grandparents as 'Grandpa & Grandma Brown'. Mary Mae's mother was Clara F. Lancet. The Lancets came from England but went to Germany for several generations then emigrated to Indiana: Brazil, Ind., Clay Co. & Harvey Co. Ind. Clara's parents were Daniel Lancet & Martha Jenkins. Daniel's parents were George Frank Lancet & Cerissa/Clara Knoll. For more information/photos on these lines-check my website: pixleyblair.tribalpages.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
