I am searching for my birth Mother, Penny Jane Rhodes Caven. I'm not sure if she kept the "Caven", as she divorced--I assume over her "situation". She lived in Portland OR, where I was born, and she herself was born in Pennsylvania. I was born "Baby Girl Caven" but his name is not on the certificate. Penny Jane was 31 when I was born--so I was told--so she would be 78 or 79 now. Adoption details: I have a few letters from attys and a receipt for my adoption--curiously one of the items is "divorce". I wonder over this--was it customary for the adoptive parents to pay for the divorce of the birth mother? Hmm. There is also a charge marked "TV". ???? Newspaper ad I understand, fees etc--but Divorce? Interesting. What I DO know re: legal information: The firm that handled the adoption was "Brown & Kettleberg", located at that time at 815 Executive Bldg in Portland OR. The atty who handled it was Garret L.
