My grandmother's uncle, Alfred James Collier was born in Ramsgate, England in 1846 and I believe went to British Guiana sometime after 1871. I know that he was employed as a railway clerk before he emigrated. He probably married in British Guiana and at least one son who visited England in the first or second decade of the 20th century.
