Thomas MEACLEM married (abt 1845)Rose McKELVY (b.abt1865) her parents were Samuel McKELVY and Jane BLOOMER. Chdn; Robert MEACLEM (b.abt1850) married Sarah (UNKNOWN)b.abt1853 in Ireland, Margaret MEACLEM b.abt1851, William MEACLEM b.abt1855 (marries Alice KING in New Zealand from Boyle, Rosscommon, Ireland), Elizabeth MEACLEM b.abt1859, Sarah MEACLEM b.abt1863, Matilda MEACLEM b.abt1865. Thomas died (date unknown). Margaret, William & Elizabeth came to New Zealand on the Dover Castle 1872. Rose travelled with her son Robert & his wife Sarah, and Rose's daughter(s) Sarah & Matilda came to New Zealand 1873 aboard the Punjaub. Both ships came to Lyttleton Port. The first group were 'sponsored' or 'nominated' by persons already in New Zealand. Rose is also known as Rosaline, on her cemetery records, her husband (Thomas) and their eldest son were "Millwrights". They seem to have come from Scotland - (have some 'proof')unsure how many generations. They all are noted as coming from Cavan, Ireland on the shipping records and death records. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
