This is what Genealogy is all about! After reviewing 11,000 entries another genealogist gave me the pointer (response at the end of this posting) that found my Moode family in the 1980 census. The problem - an incorrect spelling of the family name. In addition she introduced me to the Social Security SS-5 form which has been completed and sent out today. Thanks to all those that help us turn another page in our family history! My G-Grandfather William H. MOODE was born in Jackson, Hinds, Mississippi, in 1848. I find him on both the 1850 & 60 census. However I have not found any information on "Wm's Marriage" - who he was "Married To" - or "Birth Information" for his daughter EUGENIA C. MOODE born in MS about 1876. I have found Wm. and Eugenia (after 1900)in Howard County, Texas but lack any information from 1860 thru 1900. Any ideas - or assistance - you might might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. I think my William Moode was a Confederate Troop under 20 Conf. Cavalry - 20th Regiment (Lay's) - Company F - Film M818 roll 17. He is also listed as William Moede. I think his older brother Henry Moode was also a Confederate Troop in the 10th Mississippi Infantry - 10th Regiment, Mississippi Innfantry - Company MD - Film M232 rool 28. This H. Moode was also shown as Pvt. Co. D. - 10th Miss. Inf. Roll of Prisoners of War, C.S.A. Surrendered Jackson, Miss, May 1865 Res. Shreveport, La.
