My name is Michael Hersey and I have begun to search in earnest for my ancestral links. Recently, I came into possession of my grandfather's birth certificate, and wish to use this as the foundation for my search. The information in this document was written in cursive, and is therefore somewhat difficult to read. However, I shall do my best in interpreting the information as accurately as possible. My grandfather's name was Edmond Charles Hercy. He was born in Vespa in the county of Simcoe during what appears to be August 1903. Unfortunately, the exact date has been obscured by deep folds in the paper. The date of registration of the document reads 18 August 1903, therefore, I must assume that it was close to this date. His mother's maiden name was Tracy, Sarah Elizabeth, and his father's was Charles Hercy. The birth certificate also contains two official numbers: B 73019 and an index number: 1903-K-308. I wish to obtain as much information as I can about my grandfather's parents, grandparents, and extended family in Simcoe County and the surrounding area, if possible. I would also like to find out as much as I can about my own particular "Hersey" family history. My parents have very little information about their respective histories. Therefore, considering that I have a deep desire to learn my family's origins, it is incumbent upon me to undertake this research.
