Looking for obituary for my grandmother Sarah (SHAPIRO) wife of Louis BECKER who died February 19, 1957 at Coney Island, Kings Co., NY (Coney Island Hospital) buried at Mt. Hebron Cem. Flushing NY. Sarah Libby SHAPIRO was the d/o Hyman & Rose (TABACH) SHAPIRO (also buried at Mt. Hebron Cem. Flushing NY) Her parents and sister Esther (b. circa 1885?) came from either Polish Russia or Russain Poland my grandmother Sarah may have been born at home on Attorney St. lower East side of Manhattan , NY on Dec 9, 1890 a brother Joseph was b. in 1896 Sarah Shapiro Becker lived at 2809 Surf Avenue from 1941 - 1957. Louis and Sarah lived at 2523 Surf Avenue from 1931 - 1941. When my mom was born her parents Louis and Sarah Becker lived at the 2523 address. It was behind her aunt Rae (BECKER) & uncle Irving ROSENTHAL's furinture store ROSENTHAL's FURNITURE store. Sarah and Louis Becker may have moved to Coney Island from Brownsville area of Brooklyn NY in the 1920s. Louis BECKER s/o Morris BECKER or (BACHER?) was two when he arrived in NY The mother is unknown and my mother never knew the first name of his stepmother . He was b. c. July 4, 1890 in poss Latvia Both Louis and Sarah worked for the Brooklyn Post office at one time. Thankyou & Godbless | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
