Query Text: |
Patrick Coleman, a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary, born 1814, County Cork, Ireland. Married Margaret Russell in 1854, Ballingary, County Limerick, Ireland. She came to American in 1865 (settled in Illinois). Would love to find where he was born in Co Cork and know something about his family. When he entered the RIC service in 1837, a Henry Smith Esq. recommended him. Is Mr. Smith's family out there somewhere in Co. Cork today? Patrick was a constable in both Co. Limerick and Co. Fermanagh (he was chief constable at the barracks at Knockmore, 4 1/2 miles from Derrygonnelly in Co. Fermanagh in 1857 and 1858). After 1858, we do not know what happened to him. His wife went back to Co. Limerick and then on to American. I have checked cemetery records. Nothing. They were Catholic. Where did Patrick Coleman come from in Co Cork. He did have a brother ? or perhaps a father ? by the name John Colman (Coleman) because we have a little book given to a ancestor in 1865, Ballingary, Co. Limerick, (where Margaret Russell's family was from), brought with her to America. We still have that treasure today! Can you help us find this lost "yellow brick road", to County Cork? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
