I am researching my husband's paternal side of the family. I have some information but am trying to find more about his grandfather's line out of Denmark, Christian Thomsen born about 1892. My father-in-law told me before his death that his father and uncle came from Denmark on a ship in about 1914. I do not know the uncle's name. The uncle was a purser on a ship that may have come into San Francisco. These brothers had relatives who had a dairy farm in Ferndale. Their parent's names were Rasmus Thompsen (Thomsen) and Caroline Hansen and Rasmus was Chief of Police in Copenhagen. Christian eventually went to the Hupa area to work in the logging camps and married a Hupa woman in 1918 named Irene Beaver. Christian died in 1963. I have their marriage license and although my father-in-law always spelled our names Thomsen, the marriage license states that Christian's name was Thompson and that his father was Rasmus Thompsen. Very confusing. Anyway, to make a long story short, where would I get information on who the owner of the dairy farm might be and what my husband's great uncle's name might be. Doing research for those out of Denmark is really difficult and I could use a push in the right direction. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
