Looking for my grandfather's family. My grandfather was Simeon Rivera Rivera by birth certificate. He may have gone by Simeon Rivera Morales. He lived in Utuado,Puerto Rico; New York; possibly Conneticut and I believe he died in Puerto Rico. His parents were Maria Morales Rivera; which she went by Maria Rivera Rivera and Lorenzo Rivera Novoa. Lorenzo and Maria moved from Puerto Rico in the mid 1930's to an address on 110th in New York. Carmen Rivera was Maria's sister she went with thenm and I believe Maria raised her sister- she was 1 year older than my grandfather. My grandparents were married for a short time. They had my mother Carmen Maria Rivera Guzman- b- March 18, 1936. My grandmother was Angela Guzman y Borrero. My mother was born in Utuado, PR. Simeon to my understanding was an only child. Names related to Simeon's family are as follows: Lorenzo Rivera y Novoa- Father Maria Morales y Rivera- Mother Pedro Rivera y Novoa- Uncle Marcelino Rivera y Novoa- Uncle Lorenzo Morales y Rivera-Uncle Rodolfo Rivera y Morales- Uncle Rafael Rivera y Morales- Uncle Maria River y Morales- Aunt Carmen Rivera y Morales-Aunt and there are others. Pedro and Marcelino were in the military and served in WWI and or In WWII. - lineage- Simeon's paternal grandparents- Salustiano Rivera y Nieves married Feliciana Novoa y Quinonez. Felicana's father I believe was Francisco Novoa y Santiago. Simeon's maternal grandparents- Celedonio Morales y Rivera and Maria Rivera y Flores. Maria's Rivera y Flores mom's name was Juana Flores de Rivera. These families came from Utuado, PR. The Rivera Novoa ancestry came from Utuado and Hatillo. My grandfather Simeon kept in contact with my grandmother's sister (I believe Antonia Guzman) in Utuado to find out how my mother was but my mother was never told he was living- I guess they did'nt have the heart to tell her he was alive all those years after they told her he had died when she was a toddler. My mother's siblings would all be younger than her. My mother is now 70 years old. She is trying to find anyone that may know the story of her father, have pictures and if she in fact has siblings to possibly one day meet. I have been able to connect my father with his brother's family- he had been searching for them since 1954- it took me 5 years once I knew about them to find them. I do not want to wait so long with my mother's dad's family. She is not getting any younger and I want to forfill this wish for her before her time comes to pass. She is eagerly hoping to find her siblings and or extended family. My mother went to Central High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico and I know through story she told me that Simeon knew this as well. Someone once came to their home and asked to speak to my grandmother when my mom answered the door but my grandmother turned them away.
