I am looking for the Irish family of a Michael Downes (1802 - 1881 died in Singleton, NSW Australia) and John Downes (1800 - 1875 in Singleton NSW Australia). They were convicted for the manslaughter of Timothy Anglim on St Stephens Day Riot of 1826 and sentenced to Australia. Michael married Martha Allen, 18 a free immigrant who had arrived from Strabane, County Tyrone in February 1842.
