I am attempting to obtain information concerning my grandfather, J.H. (Homer) Woodruff. He lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1918 through 1920 and worked as the manager of the Meat Department of a Grocery Store located in the Capitol Hill area. He married Jewell Belle Broomfield in January 1919 in Oklahoma City. There was one child born in September 1920, my mother, Frances Marie Woodruff. He divorced my grandmother in or around 1924 and remained in Oklahoma City until 1933 and I have no information from that point on. I do not know what the initials J.H. stood for, but assume the H. stands for Homer. I would estimate he was born in or around 1899. May 03, 2005- Additional Information has disclosed his true name was John Homer Woodruff Jr. He was born on May 3, 1899. For some odd reason his father was John W. Woodruff. Mother was Emma Woodruff and he had four sisters, Hazel, Edith, Edna and Grace and two brothers Elmer and Eugene (Gene). Family moved from Iola, Kansas in 1899 living in Newkirk, Oklahoma and Chickasha, Oklahoma before moving to Oklahoma City in 1918. After divorcing my grandmother he remarried, marrying a lady named Marie. They moved to Okemah, Oklahoma in 1933 or 1934. There is a possibility he died on or around July 13, 1949 in Okemah and wife Marie died in May 1967 also in Okemah. I located a death notice for his mother Emma Bell Woodruff from October 31, 1944 which discloses the sister's married names as Grace Fleming, Hazel Larkin, Edith Crossett and Edna Clendenning, all show to still live in Oklahoma City at that time. It shows Elmer to be living in Benavides, Texas, Eugene living in Oklahoma City and Homer living in Okemah, Oklahoma.
