I am trying to establish a connection between Josiah Kingsley Crane's ancestors and those of Stephen Crane, author of The Red Badge of Courage. Josiah Kingsley Crane (July 7, 1901-Mar 26, 1986)lived in Orange County, NY. His father was James E.D. Crane. The author Stephen Crane (Nov. 1, 1871-June 5, 1900) was the 14th child of Johathan Townley Crane (1819-1880) and Mary Helen Peck (1827-1891). Author Stephen Crane lived for a time with his brother, Edmond Bryan in Hartwood,NY, which is ~ 20 miles from the Crane Farm in the Town of Wallkill in Orange County, NY. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
