I am looking for information on the James Cater listed in the 1830 Census in Chesterfield Co., SC. I believe he is my ggggrandfather. I know there are three Caters listed in that census, James, Henry and Hannah. James was listed as born in 1805 and being married. This would fit as I know his first child was born in 1830. His wife was named Martha (maiden name unknown) and they had William in 1830 in South Carolina then moved to Georgia in 1832 where the rest of the children were born.
