I believe my Grandfather is Melvin N Holt, born 17 Jun 1915 and died 01 Aug 1999. He was in the US Army during WW2 and was for a short period of time stationed in a small village in South Wales, UK called Whitland. He was with the 577th Quartermaster Railhead Company and I believe he went back to Maryland after D-Day. He is of Cherokee Indian ancestry and he held the rank of Sergeant during the war. If anyone recognises this person or knows of any relatives that knew him, please get in touch. Melvin also had other brothers and sisters but I know his brother Alvin also served with the 577th. I have the payroll for the 577th and it shows 2 Holts, one as a Sgt and one as a Pvt rank. From Melvins obituary I have found he and his departed wife had 3 daughters who I think all still live in Maryland. I have post another query looking for these also.
