Who's my real great-great grandmother born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico? She was an unwed female that was forced her to give up her baby daughter at birth to be raised by the family servant. I'm told my great grandma birth names are Josefa Vilanova-Ronda estimated date of birth (DOB) 1864, although in 1910 census she's recorded as Zapata-Vilanova de Lopez, Josefa (age:46). I can only assume 'Zapata' came from servant’s surname. I've found only one family in Cabo Rojo with sur names 'Ronda-Vilanova' (note names are inverted) who had four children (2 males & 2 females). Both females 'Carolina & Camila' are single and of child bearing age (approximately 22-24 years). Carolina est DOB is 1840, marries Jose Maria Fernandez on 3 Nov 1880, est year of death is 1920. Camila est DOB is 1842, marries Sergio Ramirez-Ramirez on 10 Mar 1870, est year of death is 1910. I find no records of either of them having any off spring. I’m hopeful someone might provide guidance as to where else I might find archives or documents that will bring an end to this search. My last thoughts are that since christening a child in our culture is of up most importance that the church might hold the true answer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
