I am researching my g.g.g.g.g.grandfather, Thomas Slater of Muff Parish, Drumskellan, Donegal, Ireland. He came over to New Brunswick, Canada in 1851 where he married Nancy Buchanan and settled down. He had brothers James,Andrew, John and sister Mary Ruth. (she married a Greer) While checking out my tree, I saw that the Laverty name had John, Andrew and James Slater as part of their tree. Coincidence? Please contact me if there is an inkling of a connection between the two families and if you have more info as to where they came from prior to Ireland. I believe it is Scotland, but I need help in determining this. Thank you kindly, Joy Lyle Florida, USA | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
