Seeking info on the four daughters of John C. Lester and Sarah (Sally) Dickerson Lester. The family was in Smyth Co. VA in the 1840 census, and in Sullivan Co. TN in 1860 census. The daughters are Rachael, Mary Ann, Julia and Sarah. There was also a brother, Calvin Thomas, my great grandfather. The family was split during the Civil War, with the father joining the Union army and the son the Confederate army. As a result we have no info on the daughters. John C. Lester was born in Smyth Co. VA in about 1832. Sarah Dickerson Lester in N.C. around the same time. Sarah died in 1870, and John C. remarried an Elizabeth ? He was listed in Union pension rolls as living in Glade Spring, Washington Co. VA until 1903. I have info on the family of Calvin Thomas Lester and will share what I have.
