Query Text:

I am searching for my father's birth family. He was told he was born in Elliston, Montana on February 18, 1938. But his register of birth we received a few weeks ago has his birth in Avon, Montana. Both are in Powell County with in a few miles of each other. We do not have any names for his birth parents, though his baptismal certificate has his name as Joseph Heller, which might have been his mother’s last name. The nun who wrote to my grandmother said the mother of the baby had brown hair and brown eyes, 5 ft 5 inches tall and was 21 at the time of my father’s birth. My sister and I have put her birth year at around 1916 or 17, though we are unsure if the age she gave the nun was correct. The nun also said she was from a longstanding and respected German Catholic family from Helena, Montana. We have no information of the father. We believe both parents might have had German and Dutch ancestry, as this is what the nuns told my grandmother. My dad was very handsome when he was younger with blondish-brown hair. When he grew out a beard; it was red. My dad turned 70 this year and he only started to go gray a few years ago. He has blue green eyes and "bear-claw" feet (my sister got his feet...thank God!) He has very bad migraine headaches and hay fever. (My sister got the headaches, my brother got the hay fever, and I just got his good looks, or so he says) :) We think there might be curly hair on his side of the family as my sister; brother and I all have curly hair. We all had freckles as children as did my dad. He has a love of cars, travel and maps, and he knows every capitol of every country in the world. He also loves cats, though he is allergic to them. We always had Siamese cats growing up. He has a sunny outlook on life and will talk to anyone, though he says deep down he is shy, which was a shock to find out since he can stand in line at the bank and by the time he gets to the counter, will know everything about the person in front of him. If this person sounds like he could be your long lost son or brother or uncle or cousin, please e-mail me back. We have been waiting to meet you for many years. Thank you.
