Would like to receive any information from family regarding history and ancestry of David Rainer who died in Sampson County NC around 1821. David married twice. First wife Sarah Jarvis. They were married in Duplin County around 1790. Second wife Amy may have been an Eldridge. Already have info on his children with both women except for which ones migrated out of NC. Oldest dau Martha who married William Williams is not mentioned in any sources. Would like info on her. Would like to know where David from, suspect from what is still today Duplin County area where other Rainers are found in 1700's. Also would like to know which son of David was father to William David Rainer. William David married Susan Thornton. William David and Susan lived in Johnston County at taking of 1850 census and were in Sampson COunty by the taking of the 1860 census where they remain throughout their lives. Have deed where William E. Crusenberry sold 21 acres of land to William D. Rainer in 1863. Deed registered Sept 1864. Land located "West of Goldsboro-Clinton Road and bordered lands of E. Rich (probably Eleazer Rich), of A. Thornton, and of A. Benton and up the meander of the swamp." Is this the land where William and Susan lived? If so, where did they live during taking of the 1860 Sampson County Census? William David and Susan had six children, 5 girls and son Franklin Marion Raynor (note change of Rainer spelling), my great grandfather who married Ellen Westbrook. Would love to receive info on William David's parentage, family history, and also info on his wife Susan Thornton, whose own family history as well is hard to trace. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
