Hello. I am trying to find the birth parent/s or lineage of a child born in November 1889 in Johnson County, Missouri. He (John Wesley Slater birth name) was born in November 1889 to Wesley Slater and unknown mother. He described the mother as having a darker skin than his, so I'm assuming that mother was of native American descent...? This young man was my paternal grandfather who was "given up" for adoption to a man named "Johnson Howard" in Chilhowee, Missouri from the "poor farm" there.
