My great grandmother Olava Olsen, born in Christiana (Oslo) about 1862, emmigrated to New Zealand before 1884 when she married Wilhelm Frans Anderson (Born Gottenburg, Sweden), anglisized to William Francis at the time of his marriage. On her marriage certificate Olava has indicated that her parents were Christian Olsen and her mother as Berta Olsen (nee Christiansen). William Anderson's parents were Laws Anderson and Sophia Charlotte Bagstraw. A witness at the wedding in Wellington was Lena (or Lina) Olsen. We have no idea when or how Olava arrived in New Zealand and whether she was accompanied by her parents. Olava Anderson died in 1929 aged 67 according to her death certificate.
