We here in Bourbon county, KS are descdnded from the New Haven, CT. Mix family - Thomas came to New Haven from London circa 1643. My grandfather, Ambrose Burnside Mix, buried here in KS, and his 4 brothers and 2 sister, are buried from Atlantic to Pacific. Their parents are John Wesley Mix, Sr. and wife Emmaline Prouty (she from the Vermont and Mass Prouty families) are buried in Henry county, MO. John Wesley, Sr. apparently was born in Canada and ws naturalized in Ill about 1866. His father parents had lived on the Vermont/Canadian line and migrated back and forth over the line apparently. John Wesley, Sr. was born in 1812, so this mayhave had something to do with War of 1812. Charles and John Wesley, Jr. went to Mohall, N.D. and bought railroad-right-of-way land and then went on west - Charles settled at Glasgow, Mont. and John Wesley, Jr. went on to Oregon and is buried at Aumsville, near Salem. I would appreciate hearing from any Mixes that might be descendants of Charles and I already have contact with the great-great grandson of John Wesley, Jr who lives in Portland, Or. I am also interested ina ny other Mixes that might be interested in us. The other brother Alan is buriedin Okla. with their only sister, Emmaline. They are at Newkirk, OK. My grandparents are buried here in Bourbon County, KS. They came here from Henry county, MO in 1894 approx - my Mother is their first child born here. Thank you. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
