I'm looking for information on the GRAVES family. My name is EMILY GRAVES, the daughter of JAMES BRUCE GRAVES, the son of JAMES EDWARD GRAVES, son of ALONZO GRAVES, son of ISAAC MIDDLETON GRAVES, son of WILLIAM MIDDLETON GRAVES. From what I can tell, WM GRAVES went by BILL. His assumed birthday is 14 Jun 1848. I've only found one source confirming this so I'm not positive. He was born in Covington County Mississippi and died on 30 Sep 1895 in Washington Parish Louisiana. I know he married SARAH ANN MARGARET HUGHES (order of names in questionable), I'm not sure what she was called. There is a book written about this family called "Our William Middleton Graves". I know all about the family from WM Graves down to me but I have no idea about his family before him. I am curious where the family comes from. From prior research, I've found a likely family line. Middleton, son of William, son of James, but there is no connection to WM besides the names. William and Sarah had children named Saleta, Isaac, and Daniel. William served in the civil war in Co. K, LA Infantry, CSA. His headstone shows LA infantry but I've found records that show MS infantry but either way, it's definitely Co. K. There have also been records of the family in Pike Co and Walthall Co, MS. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
