Looking for additional information and verification of the existing data. Cynthia Ramsey was born in Kentucky in 1801. Cynthia married Joseph Essex in Ross County Ohio on the 7th of August 1817. Cynthia is one of eight children born to Alexander Ramsey and Elizabeth Cutright. Her Siblings were Polly, John, Catherine, Andrew, Rosanna, Anderson and Nathaniel. 1806 Ohio Census shows her living in Ross County Ohio. Cynthia Ramsey’s date of death has not yet been obtained. Alexander Ramsey was born at sea in 1770 while his family was in route from Ulster Ireland to the Americas. Alexander married three times, first to Elizabeth Cutright in 1793 in Fayette County Kentucky, then to Elizabeth Cullenbock on the 11th of September 1816 in Ross County Ohio, then to Tabitha Scissel in Fayette County Ohio on the 9th of November 1820. Alexander is one of three children born to John Ramsey and Mary Black. Alexander’s siblings were John and Polly. In 1818 the family moved to Fayette County where Alexander remarried again in 1820 to Tabitha Scissel. In 1833 Alexander Ramsey and his sons John, Nathaniel, and Alexander came to what is now Bokes Creek Township, Logan County Ohio. John bought 50 acres in VMS 9938 on 7 April 1834. Andrew Ramsey and Joseph Essex soon followed bringing other settlers from Fayette County. Alexander Ramsey and his sons built the first sawmill in Bokes Creek Township, on Rush Creek. This was essential in opening the area up for settlement. For a short time they also had a store at the mill until Alexander's Death, in 1838. His son Alexander Ramsey Jr, died at the Columbus State Hospital on the 4th of April 1842. He had been there since 1838. He had epilepsy. According to the Bellefontaine Gazette, 10 August 1839 List of expenditures in Logan County June 7, 1838 – June 22, 1839 for Clothing furnished Alexander Ramsey, a lunatic sent to the lunatic asylum at Columbus $18.50. For costs incurred in the case of said Ramsey $122.31 Alexander Ramsey died on the 20th March 1838 in Bokes Creek, Logan County Ohio. He is most likely buried in the old Hill Cemetery John Ramsey was born in 1730 in (Ulster) Dalhousie, Cockpen, Midlothian, Scotland. John married Mary Black in 1765, exact date and location are not known at this time. His Parents and siblings are unknown at this time. John Ramsey died after being chased by Indians and drinking water too fast (This is according to Nathaniel Ramsey in the 1880 History of Logan County Ohio.) John Ramsey died in Bedford Virginia in 1768. John, Alexander and Nathaniel Ramsey all appear on the Property Tax List for Perry Township, Logan County Ohio for the year 1834.
