Looking for additional information or verification of existing data. Elisabeth (Elizabeth) Hornbeck was baptized the 13th of May 1722 in Kingston Ulster New York. (According to the Baptismal & Marriage, Registers of the Old Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster Co., New York 1660 – 1809.). Date and location of her Marriage to Hendrick Kortregt (Kortreght) is not known at this time. She is one of ten children born to Johannes Hornbeck (Hornbeek) and Orseltjen Wesbroek. Her siblings were: Benjamin, Annaatjen, Richard, Daniel, Samuel, Jonathan, Abraham, Isaac, and Eleanor. The date and location of Elisabeth’s death has not yet been located. Johannes Hornbeck was born the 20th of April 1685 in Hurley, Ulster, New York. He was baptized on the 3rd of May 1685. Johannes Hornbeck and Osseltje Wesbroek were married on the 12th of August 1716. (According to the Kingston RDC (Banns)) Johannes Hornbeck is one of eight children born to Warnaar Hornbeck and Annatje De Hooges. His siblings were: Antoni, Evaatje, Lodewyck, Saartje, Joost, Marietje and Johannes. He had eight step-siblings from his father’s second Marriage, they were; Mathys, Tobias, Evert, Jacobus, Lea, Rachel, Marretjen and Catrina. The date and location of Johannes death has not yet been located. Warnaar Hornbeck’s was born about 1645 in Holland. He married Annatje de Hooges in Hurley Ulster County in 1670 (1668 / 1671). He also married Margariet (Grietje) Tyssen, date and location of this Marriage, is not known, but from this Marriage, he had seven children. The area was sometimes without benefit of clergy and a common practice had arisen of a couple announcing their intentions, setting up housekeeping, and making it legal when they had a chance, all perfectly legal according to the times in which they lived. He fathered 16 children by two wives. According to History of Kingston, New York by Marinus Schoonmaker, there was a Wasrnaar Hornbeek who was one of the early settlers of Ulster County; he was the father of eighteen children by two wives. His first wife was Anna de Hooges and his second wife was Grietje Tyssen. Since the two wife’s names match and the number of children matches, we can believe that this Wasrnaar is the same as our Warnaar. See detailed information in the Biography portion of this book. Warnaar died about 1715 probably in Rochester, Ulster Co., NY. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
