Hello, my name is Tammie (Ahmed) Rush. I am trying to research my Turkish Ancestry and the only information I have is that my paternal grandfather Hokmey Ahmed was born in what is currently called Istanbul between 1884-1886,his father was Mamet Ahmed and his mother was Hanom Gurse both from Istanbul(Constantanople). He came to America for a number of years, but returned to Turkey around 1939, shortly after the death of my grandmother. I was told by my Aunt that he had remarried (probably a distant cousin)in Turkey before his death around 1966. I was also told he might have opened several restaurants in Istanbul between 1939 and 1964. Another bit of information is I believe he was a diabetic and had both legs amputated, so there should be some hospital records, somewhere. If anyone has any information on the Ahmed family or the Gurse Family, I would really appreciate it. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
