Query Text: |
I'm looking for information about Nolans from Dublin. My Great-grandfather was William Nolan, a baker, born in Dublin c. 1881. His wife's name was Teresa. Their eldest son, Michael (my grandfather) was born in Feb/March 1910. He was also a baker. William and Teresa also had a son named Arthur - who may have worked with the G.A.A, and possibly a daughter named Mary. My dad also remembers his father talking about a younger brother who was killed in a housefire, but he doesn't remember the name. Michael Nolan married Violet Jones, and went on to have 12 children. My grandmother, Violet, was the daughter of Thomas (a tailor, born Dublin c 1875) and Mary Jones (born Dublin c1875). She had at least 6 siblings (according to 1911 census of Ireland) - Edward, Llewellyn, Thomas, John, Eileen, James. We know she had a sister she called "Babs" - this may have been Eileen, or a younger sister called Barbara. Nicknames were common in the family - my nana was known as "Dolly" all her life! I'm hoping that the name "Llewellyn Jones" might trigger some memories with someone! Thomas Jones also had a brother called LLewellyn (a clothier, born Dublin c 1877), and an older brother called John (born England c1868). The Dublin census of 1901 lists his occupation as, "Secretary to Friendly Societies".) If anyone recognises any of these people, I'd be REALLY happy to hear from you!!! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
