Query Text: |
I am searching for any information on the Stamborskis. My husband's grandfather was John Joseph Stamborski. He was born in 1899. He grew up in Mt. Loretto orphanage in Staten Island. He later changed his last name to Kiesling. He had an older brother named Otto. His mother was institutionalized after her 3rd son died. His father could not care for the boys and placed them in an orphanage. I have found his name in the 1910 census, living in the orphanage. I have found his draft registration in 1919 as John Joseph Kiesling. I cannot find any information about his parents or brother yet. The 1910 census states that his parents were born in Hungary. The 1930 census states that his parents were born in Germany but he may have been referring to the Kieslings, who I believe were just friends. The draft registration names an Uncle Joe Nowak as his closest relative. As I am having such a hard time finding ANY Stamborskis at all, any info would be greatly appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
