Hiram Penn b. 15 Apr 1877 Netherlands married Gertrude Frances Taylor (license 28 Jun 1907) in Champaign Co IL and lived in Chicago. They had 3 children Robert E Penn b.abt.June1908 IL, Thomas Varance Penn b.abt 1911 IL, and Laura V Penn b.abt 1914. All these folks consistent with their birth dates can be found in the family of Hiram and Gertrude Penn in 1910-1930 Chicago Census. But I can find no evidence of any of them after 1930. Thomas Varance Penn was named for Gertrude Frances’s brother Thomas Varance Taylor who died 1909 in Urbana, IL. Laura V Penn was named for her Mother who died in Champaign Co IL between 1880 and 1900. Hiram J Penn was the son of Jacob Penn b.Jan1834 in the Neatherlands and his wife Anigje was born in Wetering, Netherlands (probably Wetering, Steenwijk, Netherlands as that is where Anigje and son John C Penn list for their birth on a 1921 Passport Application). The children in addition to Hiram J Penn were: Nicholas Penn b.Jun 1879, Netherlands (wife Susie and daughter Anna b.abt.1913); John C Penn b.26 Nov 1881 Wetering, Steenwyk, Netherlands (wife Mae and dau. Jane A); Gerhard Penn b.abt1885 Netherlands and died bef 1900; and Henry Penn b.19Apr1887 (wife Ettie and son John b.1916, William b.1918 and Claude b.1920) and probably was the Henry Penn who d. Mar 1970, residing in IL. All of these families lived initially in Chicago at least up to 1930 but I can find no evidence of them after that date. Gertrude Frances Taylor was b.Jul 1876 IL (prob Champaign Co) dau of Thomas V Taylor b.Aug 1847 NY and Laura V Keller b.abt.1856 MD (prob Cumberland, Alleghany Co., MD) who were married 1 Sept 1874 Champaign Co., IL. In addition to Gertrude Frances, the Taylor’s had children Thomas Varence Taylor b.22 June1879 Moberly, Randolph Co., MO and d.9Feb 1909 in Urbana, Champaign Co IL and Laura Taylor b.Feb 1881 IA. Laura V Keller was the daughter of William V Keller b.1820.PA and Susan Cook b.1Sept1823.PA and both died in Champaign Co IL. For Genealogy purposes, I have done extensive research into the William V Keller and Susan Cook, their Children and descendants and would be glad to share and exchange info with others. The family originated somewhere in PA, lived for about 2 decades in Cumberland, Allegheny Co MD, and migrated to Champaign Co IL about 1865.
