Emil Thorn and wife Amanda (Koklen) had a son, Walter born in Illinois Dec. 24, 1888 and Gertrude was born about 1892 in MN. Emil Thorn died about 1892 - 93, when Amanda married Herman Schaefer. About 1892 until 1920, this family lived around Mt. Lake, Cottonwood Co. MN. After this the family moved to Comfrey, Brown Co. MN area.
