BROOKS : BUNN : BURN : CLAVEL : CLAYVILLE

Query Text:

I am looking for information Joseph W. Brooks and James P. Brooks. Joseph was from Ontario Canada and James later went to Missouri. Joseph's wife was Margaret. I don't know when or where they were born except that it would be in the early 1800s. He was the father of James and maybe a sister named Hananah. James was born about 1838 in Ontario. James was residing in Pelham, Welland Co., Ontario when he married Mary Ann Bunn (Burn) on August 30, 1859 in—Caledonia, Haldimand Co., Ontario. They had two sons born in Canada, Almer Aden Brooks on July 13, 1860 in Seneca, Haldimand Co., Ontario and Andrew W. Brooks on May 15, 1862. James, Mary Ann and Almer appear in the 1861 census in Cayuga North, Haldimand Co., Ontario, probably living with Mary Ann's father Benjamin Bunn. The family immigrated to the U.S. about 1866. Three other children were born in Marion Co. or Ralls Co, Missouri—James Phillip Brooks on July 25, 1869; Margaret Brooks (Krueger) in 1875; and Eugene G. Brooks on May 29, 1877. I don't know when James and Mary Ann Brooks died or if they were still in Missouri. The family doesn't appear in any 1880 census in the U.S. but the children reappear later in the late 1800s in Missouri with their own families. Three of the sons, Almer, Andrew and Eugene are buried in the Hydesburg Cemetery in Ralls Co., Missouri. If anyone knows what happened to the elder James P. Brooks, or his father Joseph or on any of the other names mentioned, I would greatly appreciate your help. By the way, Andrew lived most of his life in Marion Co, Missouri but appears in Platte Co., Missouri with his wife, Josephine (Clayville or Clavel), and some of his children in 1920, according to the census. However, they are also listed in the Hannibal Missouri city directory for the same year (they appear in the Hannibal city directories in the following years and in the 1930 census). If anyone can shed some light on this brief move, I would also appreciate that.
