Query Text: |
My greatgrandfather, John H. Germain, was born 1855 in "French Canada." He emigrated to New York ca. 1869, as an adolescent and worked as a currier (leather curing. Around the age of 20 he married Emma Walker, from Lee, NY, in Camden, NY, in 1875. Emma was the daughter of Augustus Walker and Martha Ann Scothon. John and Emma had 4 children, Wilfred who was partially paralyzed as a child, (reason unknown), Harry, Maude, and Ernest. They lived variously in Hall, near Chicago, IL, Lynn, MA, Olean, NY, and Buffalo, NY. I have not been able to find any information on John's family...don't know if he emigrated by himself or with family members. It's possible that his roots were partly indigenous. Would love to find a family connection. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
